Kitchenalia - Old Cleaver and sharpening Iron

Hello out there,

Trying to list a very old butchers cleaver and sharpening iron but gets refused by Ebay because it says they are, quote "firearms" and contravening their firearms policy!

Looked at this policy and my items are nothing like those banned which are obviously firearms related.

Thing is, can see other listings in Kitchenalia that are very like mine but they seem all OK.

Where am I going wrong? Have looked at my text and refined out any potentially confusing words but still no joy.

Very frustrating.

Very grateful for any illuminating advice.

Cheers, Tony

You may have to find another platform to sell these items,  if eBay have removed them once and you relist,  you could face a serious selling restriction.

I would imagine that a Cleaver which  also the descriptive term kitchen ' weapon'  , hatchet,  large knife.  Much of the site is bot run,  so linking cleaver to any of those descriptive words,   could bring attention to a bright eyed bot,  and they pulled your listing.

Yes,  items do slip through,  also some sellers will have authorisation to sell knives , for example cutlery sets.

The ones you see if they have broken an eBay ruling and are spotted and reported like yours was ,  they too will be pulled.

You have probably fallen foul of the eBay policy on selling knives, not firearms.

If other sellers are selling similar items it probably means that those items have not been reported yet, but yours have.

As you have been advised, if eBay have removed your items/blocked you from selling those items, don’t attempt to relit, as that may damage your account.

Only the most basic cuttlery can be sold on the eBay UK site....kitchen knives, bread knives, cake knives & even fruit knives are prohibited

If you are seeing these items on eBay then they will most likely be on international eBay sites & available to the UK......but the chances are they would be seized by customs on import.......the knives cannot be listed on the UK site & if listed on overseas sites cannot be located in the UK
