I have just bought a Flugelhorn IBrass musical instrument) from a seller in India (my country is UK). They have just sent me an email saying that if import taxes are due they will be paid by me. Does anyone know if tax is payable on such an instrument?
Thanks in advance for your advice
Alan
Tax is based on VALUE not the item. Google Import Taxes.
The Tax is collected by Royal Mail or Courier who delivers who make a charge as well. RM charge £8, Couriers up to £20.
VAT is 20% and the VAT and duty are based on the delivered cost [cost - insurance and freight]. You possibly will not have to pay duty as under the limit. One-third the cost is a good rule of thumb to include the carriers' charge
So perhaps about £35
