How do you phone eBay?

Is there a number to talk direct rather than chat as I'm getting nowhere?

There is no useable direct number but you can request they call you.   Click on "eBay Help", top right of any page.   Scroll down to "Contact Us" and click on that.  Select a topic, the nearest or any topic.  On the next page, on the lefthand side you should get a link to "Have us call you".
