Hi All
We were hit with a Vero issue and a suspension, which was done in error, but with no ability to appeal to undo it, and nobody prepared to even listen, we were forced to grin and bear it.
After waiting this out our shop should have appeared again, and business returned to normal.
We got the email saying the suspension was lifted however it was still impossible to find our listings via a search, and we were showing as having zero listings when finding our username and viewing sellers other items for sale.
After many hours of the highly catchy hold music call centre workers from around the globe attempted to explain and fix our issues, we learned that somebody forgot to unhide our listings. They reported that they had now done this, and we had to wait another 24-72 hours for everything to return to normal.
With this painful wait now completed, and virtually zero sales made in this time, we now find ourselves with an intermittent fault where listings sometimes appear and sometimes do not. It's random, and changes by the moment with a listing appearing in a search one time, then the same search not appearing an hour later. Often it'll even appear and vanish with just a page refresh.
More fun calls to Ebay customer service later, and a few hours later, we talked with somebody who suggested that it may take until October to get resolved. This is less than ideal, as a business who sadly have to rely on Ebay for a lot of our trade, and also pay them a lot of money for an anchor shop, and large amounts of seller fees, this service really isn't feeling like great value for money.
There isn't a good alternative we can find to simply keeping on calling them, and attempting to add pressure, coupled with just waiting longer to see what happens.
Does anybody have any suggestions, solutions or experience please for a course of action which might lead to a better outcome than listening to that same cheerful hold music while going slowly insane with frustration?
Thank you for anything suggested.
VeRO is basically a system - as I understand it - whereby brand holders do not want their brands listed on eBay. I'm not aware that it is time limited in any way. You simply cannot list those brands. It is not - as some think - that the items are in some way "counterfeit" [how could anyone know just from a listing?]. Even your ID might give trouble if the brand holder [motor car] were to take issue that you are not "official".
If eBay took all your listings down for reasons known to them they do now seem to have put them back up. Sometimes - sadly - Customer Service suggests things and time scales which they cannot effect.
There are guidelines to using brands, although these do vary by brand.
This is a sample of the Vero email:
- Your listing was reported by Subaru Corporation for using their brand name inappropriately. eBay’s Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) programme offers intellectual property owner(s) a way to report listings that they believe infringe on their rights
- Brand names cannot be used in listings if the product isn’t manufactured by, or compatible with, that brand. You may use "compatible with", "fits", or "for" before a brand name, if the item described is specifically designed to be compatible with the products of that brand
-- Using a trademark owner's logos without permission is not allowed.
- If you believe a mistake has been made, you will need to contact the rights owner directly. If the rights owner approves your appeal, please have them contact us directly to reinstate your listing(s)
Our listings and shop are very much not fixed. If you re-arrange our listings by price, nearest first etc, or just refresh the page, you will notice the number of listings will keep changing. We have over 11500 live listings, but very often only 1000 of them are showing. This is preventing people from finding them, and thus buying them. This is a bit of a bother!
In this particular case we had a listing reported some 6 months ago, unbeknownst to us, and between that reporting and the taking down of our entire shop due to this listing, the listing had long since become compliant, so a fully compliant listing was taken down. I digress, as this is all done with now, the issue is the shop hasn't been correctly re-instated and has this glitch where our listings keep coming in and out of existence!
