Getting VAT receipts???

Hi,

Anybody else struggling to get VAT receipts from business sellers, Im requesting them on purchase (using the add message to seller function) then 2,3,4 times after that by sending messages direct to them via the ebay messaging service.  I have started to leave neutral feedback now for sellers who don't even reply.  I've noticed now that you can set up your amazon account to only deal with people who will provide VAT receipts - Can't ebay do something like this OR put pressure on their sellers to provide their leaglally obligated receipts?

legally sellers only have to provide VAT receipts to other VAT registered businesses,

your account isn't VAT registered, so they don't have to provide you with a VAT receipt

Hi. I'm sorry but that simply is not true. I can request a VAT receipt whether or not I am registered business or not. I run a business that is VAT registered and for me to claim the VAT the only thing I have to do is pay for the item on my business visa card which is in my and my companies name. That makes it a VAT purchase. Take for instance a sales rep on the road who purchases fuel on his travels. He asks the fuel station for a VAT receipt - he is not actually registered for VAT but he pays for it on his company credit card therefore is acceptable into VAT payments. I have had a long conversation with HMRC about this hence I am aware of the ins and outs. But thanks for the interest.

on ebay they only have to provide them to VAT registered members
