How do i log acomplaint about a failure to deal with fraud.

Operator from customer services lied to me about reporting a fraudulent listing.

I have lost £700 and ebay did nothing.

Thank goodness i felt i was being fobbed off by ebay and called back this morning.

The operator told me nothing at all was logged last night and indeed the listing was still up and running.

How many more people lost a fortune due to ebay incompetence ?

Feel very strongly about this and am being obstructed from taking it further.

i know i have lost £700 and can do nothing but with reporting it immediately other people could have been prevented losing money.

Still cannot believe i was lied to and no report was filed until i recalled this morning.

in all likelihood eBay will see nothing wrong with the listings as the fraud occurred because, as you said, you send 'cash' via PayPal = " for speed I needed to do a paypal friends transaction."

The fraud occurred because you did not follow simple eBay / PayPal T&C/rules - it needed your full co-operation.

Sorry you lost so much but you are 17 years on eBay with over 400 buyer feedback so should have known better.

Cannot believe this is called a "support" forum. I quite realise I was stupid. Support does not involve that being said again.

it does need it said, so that other people don't do the same thing,

the way to report a scam listing is to use the report link on the actual listing,

ebay CS will say whatever they think you want to hear, as they don't want to upset you,

they rarely do what they say they will, and there is no way of reporting them.

It was a listing for a phone on auction.
The listing said they has 3 and would consider buy it now.
I agreed to buy the 2.
They said the items were reserved within ebay and for speed I needed to do a paypal friends transaction.

so you went outside ebays rules and lost your money, never ever do deals outside of the listing,

to report the listing you should use the report link on the actual listing,

phoning ebay doesn't work,

it's not ebays incompetence, it's people not using common sense and following the rules,

this person wasn't your friend and definitely wasn't a member of your family, so why did you think it would be safe to send him a £700 gift?

It is ebays incompetence not to remove the listing.
I had to call them this morning. No one had bothered to file a report on the fraudulent listing.
I quite realise I was stupid but ebay were completely negligent after I reported it.
That is my issue. The operator filed NO report. The listing was up and running until I called again this morning.
The operative I got this morning put me through to a manager. He confirmed the listing was live and there was no record other than my phone call.
How many more people lost money upsets me.
I do feel your curt harsh remarks are not useful in a support forum.
We are obviously all not as clever as you feel you are. I did everything via ebay message so assumed I was safe within the ebay system.
Please do not bother to reply when you are not able to be courteous.

This is not eBay incompetence

You chose to circumvent eBay systems & did an off eBay deal.........that is your fault

You also invalidated the Money Back Guarantee which would have covered you if you had gone through eBay as you made an F&F Paypal payment.........in doing that you also breached the T&C of Paypal as the person to whom you sent the money was neither your friend or your family

eBay do a great deal to prevent fraud & protect buyers......but when a buyer CHOOSES to buy by breaching eBay rules & Paypal rules there is nothing they can do

I'm sorry but you losing money is on this occasion your own fault.......you cannot blame anyone but yourself & you cannot expect help from eBay or Paypal.......indeed the transaction you completed may actually end up damaging your own eBay account as doing deals outside eBay systems usually earns account defects

Nothing anyone can say here will assist you as making a F&F payment is in effect sending a gift

Simply making arrangements for an off eBay deal via messaging does not offer any protection.....indeed it actually gives eBay a stick to beat you with !!

eBay will not remove the listing if the goods actually do exist & can be purchased through eBay & paid for via eBay checkout..........
