First Time Seller

Hey guys,

I am a first time seller and i have no idea what i'm doing. That being said i think i gave wrong information on how the parcel is going to the buyer. All i did was whack it in a post box (royal mail) but i went in today just to see when Ebay thinks the estimate will be and it says that my transaction has been held until i dispatch (which i marked it as) and given a tracking code...but i dont have one. Is this a standard thing or did i mess up?

If you mean your money is being held by paypal that's normal.  The do this with all new sellers as a security measure. Your money will be held for 21 days. The only way to get it release quicker is if you provide a tracking number to prove you have sent it, and it's been delivered.  otherwise it's 21 days.
