Fake goods, what to do?

I recently purchased a (usually expensive) branded piece of jewelry and discovered it was fake. The seller in question sells a lot of this particular brand at a cut price, but advertises them all as genuine. What can be done about this? People shouldn't be getting scammed like this and I was wondering what the protocol is with eBay on this kind of stuff.

No one from eBay as you can appreciate can physically check items that sellers sell.   So,  they rely on buyers using the tools provided,  that is,  to inform them so that they can act.

So,  if enough buyers open cases for a refund claiming item not as described / fake, counterfeit item sold , and cases escalated bring about defects,  it doesn't take too many defects to boot a Private seller of eBay for life.
