Expensive fees on small profits

I haven't sold items on ebay for a while but the fees on small items seem to be ridiculously high making it not worth selling.  I try to keep my auctions at a reasonable price with reasonable postage fees.  Recently I sold a skirt for £3.99 and postage fees of £3.40.(postage & packaging) When I looked into my paypal account  instead of £7.39 I was left with £5.97. Almost a quarter deducted! When I take away my postage costs I am left with £2.47 for my efforts.  

I have to say that I would rather donate my future sales to charity!

The skirt sold for £3.99 + £3.50 P&P

You would have received £7.04 into Paypal (as Paypal charge 3.4% + 20p per transaction) - Fee £0.45

You would then be invoiced £0.75 by eBay

So your total fees are £1.20

So of the £7.49 you would have received £6.29 before postage

You appear to have confused the money received for the skirt with that received for the T Shirts solsd at £2.99 + £3.40
