Ebay's response to non-payers

We seem to be plagued by non-payers these days - we've had 7 non-payers this year whereas in previous years we've seldom had any.

The ebay system in response to non-payers is too lenient in my opinion - firstly we have to wait for 48 hours after the sale has ended and then we have to wait for a further 4 days before we can close the case, get our fees back and relist the item.

So why are these useless people allowed to get away with it?

Simply because ebay are too lenient.

Sure, the bidders are given a black mark against them but even so, the default setting allows bidders to have 4 unpaid items against them inside 6 months before they're blocked.

The very minimum requrement to block them is 2 unpaid items against them in 12 months and for that you have to tweak your settings, but we shouldn't have to work to disuade these pests.

I always block non-payers after it's all over but it's too late by then - I've been taken for a ride and have no recompense nor way of even getting my own back.  I even ended up with a negative feedback from a non-payer, simply because I vented my annoyance!

An item sold and not paid for is a nuisance, to say the least.

If you happened to be selling it at a peak moment then you have to wait for an extra week before you can list it again - and an extra 7 days on top of that before the new auction ends..

If you were in need of the money then it's even worse....

It just feels wrong to me that they can bid and not pay so freely

If someone bought something in a shop then they'd have to pay on the spot - so why don't ebay crack down on these pseudo-buyers and allow us sellers to move on quicker.

I'll be interested to hear from any ebay representative here - and on your own comments too.

Oh well, had my moan - feel better now!
