Just use whatever you usually do. Royal Mail is good and transparent. They have "Post Offices" all over the place and an excellent compensation system.
You can still - I think - buy tracked labels through eBay and they do have the advantage [or so I'm told] that if you simply put the items in the post box the tracking is picked up when the items enter the system at sorting
