Ebay asking me to add VAT Percentage to my listings but I am not VAT registered

In My Seller Hub eBay is telling me to add a missing VAT percentage to my listings, but I am not VAT registered and only use the GSP for export sales outside the UK.  Called Customer Services and got a response, but not convinced they really understood the problem.  They told me it was correct to add a VAT percentage to my listings and that it would not impact me on the final value I receive, but then I read

"If you are not registered for EU or UK VAT, you should take the following actions:

  1. Get familiar with EU import VAT: if you are not registered for VAT, you do not need to add a VAT rate to your listings. Where eBay has to collect VAT, we will add VAT on top of your listing price for shipments into the EU with a consignment value up to EUR 150."

So still confused about what I should be doing.  Appreciate any feedback.

If you're not VAT registered you would actually be breaking the law to add a VAT percentage to your listings!

I'm sure you're correct that eBay's call centre doesn't understand. Maybe you could just add a zero percentage?

If no-one here knows the answer, try asking on the sellers board.

if you aren't VAT registered you need to leave the box blank

ignore the message stating update your VAT % as it doesn't affect you
