Ebay app no longer works on my tablet

Anyone else found that the ebay app has stopped working on their tablet or phone? Could it be because the android version is an old one, I'm using 4.0.1

Probably I believe it needs to be Android 6 or higher.

Make sure you have the latest versions of Google Play Services (21.21.16) & Google Play Store (25.9.19-21). If not, follow the directions here:

Thanks for the information and possible solution to my question but unfortunately I have not been able to get either of the suggested Google apps to update any further than they are, also my tablet is running Android 5.0.1 and despite searching for further updates from Google as it says my device is up to date, when searching for eBay on the play store it doesn't even appear in the list of downloadable apps, very annoying when ebay has been running perfectly for over 5 years or more.
