Just to let other sellers using Royal Mail 48hr Delivery know that there is currently a glitch in Ebay's system that can affect your Late Delivery Rate in your Seller Performance. This has caused us to lose Top Seller status this month.
Royal Mail 48hr is a 2-3 day delivery service. I find the majority of parcels are delivered in 2 days but a significant minority take 3 days. Ebay show this service as a 2-3 day service when you set your postage policy.
Unfortunately when Ebay calculate the latest possible delivery date for such a parcel they only add 2 days to the expected dispatch date, thereby causing all deliveries that take 3 days to be "late", even though they are in fact on time.
One thing I can say about Ebay is that I have always found their helpline personnel to be excellent. I phoned today and explained the problem and had my sales incorrectly marked as "late" changed to on-time. Further Carl informed me that Ebay are aware of this problem and that they should have this fixed soon.
In the meantime if it affects your seller rating then it is costing you money in terms of the discount you get on seller fees. Worse, if your seller rating drops from Top Seller to Above Standard, or from Above Standard to Below Standard then I would expect this would also affect your positioning in Ebay's search results, so would also cost you sales.
Can I suggest that everyone sending by Royal Mail 48hr (which has delivery confirmation as standard) does check whether they are getting incorrect late deliveries marked in their Seller Performance and makes the effort to contact the Ebay helpline to get them cancelled. The more people that recognise the problem and kick up a fuss the quicker Ebay will correct the problem.
