EBAY REF NUMBER ON ENVELOPE TO BE POSTED?

Just recently I have noted that there is now an ebay ref number in the address for items to be posted. I do not know what the purpose of this number is but it seems to me not a very good idea.  Since this number was introduced I have had in the last 4 weeks items that i have sold gone missing in the post. Prior to this number being introduced I have gone sevaral months without items being mislaid. My thoughts on this are that know everyone who has handled the envelope knows there is an item from ebay inside, whereas before there was no clue as to what the envelope contained. Is this number compulsory as an inclusion in the address or can it be left off, anyone have any advice.  Regards 8-freight

It is put on by ebay for when you buy the postage through Packlink

If you dont then you can delete it

To read all the information go to Annoucements at the bottom of the page and see it  for 01-09-2020

Your parcels should not have gone missing due to the code as the buyers address is there and as long. the code is just on one line

Makes no difference to delivery.

I always use Royal Mail and take to the Post office  and would not use packlink.

I have only every lost a couple of items in about 16 years
