I have put up several items for sale including jumpers and a coat that have been stored away safely together until their sale. The coat in question sold with no issues, the listing said 'no returns' although obviously unless an item is faulty. The buyer of the coat requested a refund claiming it smelled funny and suggested I smoked/had pets. I do not smoke or have any pets. I explained this and that when preparing to post I did not notice any smells of any of the winter items that had been in storage (in plastic lidded boxes) together but suggested that she air the item out but that the item was not faulty.
The buyer then complained that my postage fee was too much and 'unacceptable' despite it being clear on my listing prior to auction. The buyer then asked for funds to be refunded to cover dry cleaning (via paypal). I disagree that there is any issue with the coat and believe the buyer to be simply trying to get money back. No other items that were stored with this coat have had any issues.
I have refused to transfer funds via PayPal for dry cleaning and a case has been opened. Obviously should eBay push through a refund with buyer paying return postage, I would have to comply but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
