Dodgy car buyers

Just advertised our family car, we live in far south west, a buyer from essex pressed buy it now without asking for any info or making an offer, he tried to warm me about excessive PayPal fees and suggested bank transfer on arrival and collection. Checked them out on auto trader and not all looks as it should, they arrive and try to re negociate the price and get a bit agressive by all accounts. The car sales web page they advertise looks very  clean and professional but the feedback from auto check shows a different story with a muddy car plot next to a scrap yard.

How do I proceed.

Before sending this seller a cancellation request, check the feedback they've left for other sellers.

This sounds like a dealer who "buys" vehicles without even asking questions, with no intention of paying unless they can bully the seller into letting it go for a knock-down price.

If they have left obnoxious feedback for other sellers who have refused, you will know what to expect if you cancel the sale.

Personally, I would have advised opening an unpaid item case. That way they would receive a strike on their account, and be banned from leaving you any feedback.

No car saleshould ever be paid for by Paypal.

Bank Transfer on arrival and collection -You would need to see the money in your bank account before letting them have the car. Ideally CASH on collection is the safest.

In view of what you have found out about the buyer, I think Cancellation might be the best bet, using reason " problem with buyers address". That would recover the selling fee but not the listing fee.

Also place buyer on Blocked Bidders List.
