I bought and paid for an item, including delivery charge on October 7th. As it is a large item, the seller asked for more time to get it parcelled up. As I don't need it until December, I said this and that there was no rush. He is coming to this part of the country on November 2nd and said he would bring the item then. As private sellers can't alter the delivery date, it is way past that now. I am worried I won't be covered by the eBay guarantee if I don't get the item in November and could lose my money. I have just asked him for a refund and that I would pay cash when he brings the item and he has replied he could mark it as despatched and bring it on November 2nd. What is your advice on this please

You've already had good advice, but why rely on other members to tell you the time limit?
It's all explained in eBay's money back guarantee. The best advice can give you it to read it for yourself; both as a buyer and a seller, it's so important to understand the conditions, exclusions and time limits that apply.
