Damaged during delivery

The buyer has requested a refund because the item was damaged during delivery.

The item is a STEEL ANVIL which is made to with stand being hammered on so how can it be damaged in the post !!!

The item was wrapped in bubble wrap & put in a box

I asked if the box was damaged so I could claim through the parcel insurance but the buyer wont respond so the insurance wont pay

ebay says it has to be returned for me to inspect & I have to pay for the return but a photo shows the damage so I dont need it returning costing me even more.

Its impossible to break a chunk of steel inside a box with out damaging the packaging

I have said the insurance I paid extra for when sending the item will pay if the buyer says the packaging was damaged but he wont respond

Why should I pay when he wont even respond so I can claim through the insurance

Why do i just have to payup when it is clearly a lie & the item was broken by the purchaser

I am the only one trying to resolve this & the buyer wont even respond but ebay rules in his favour without even one single email to him

The resolution centre processes are automated and designed to put both parties back in the position they were in before the transaction took place.  Once you have the item back, you can appeal eBay's decision but as eBay were not at any time present during the transaction, they have no way of establishing who is correct so you are unlikely to get any help with this.

As for your claim against a carrier, this is nothing to do with the buyer, nor is the buyer under any obligation to engage in protracted discussions about the case.
