Customs Charge on a returned item

Hi Everyone,

I am stuck with a customs charge a total of £91.44 for items returned from Australia. VAT has already been paid when I purchased the items from the UK supplier.

I have spoken to the Royal Mail depot and they have requested to call customer services which is hard to get hold of, what are my options here? If anyone has an idea please it will be very much appreciated.

There is no point in asking Royal Mail for advice on VAT refunds. They only collect customs charges on behalf of HMRC.

You should find your answer on the HMRC web site, or call their help desk.

Correct, I just found out since I have been on the phone since morning. It seems like it will be BOR286 form that I will need to use to dispute the charges but unfortunately for now I have to pay the VAT, duty and handling fee to royal mail
