ebay have a policy against selling counterfeit goods but they don't say how to deal with a situation as a customer when one believes that one has been sold counterfeit goods.
I bought a camera more than a month a ago from an ebay seller but when I needed it serviced by the manufacturer they said the label with the serial number was fake so would not recognise it as something they would service (see attached phto of the letter). I don't know if just the label is fake or the whole camera. I have contacted the seller but not yet had a satisfactory response. What should I do?
What should I do?
Everything depends upon the exact date of delivery. It it is still within 30 days of delivery you can use eBay's money back guarantee, which will almost certainly assure you of a full refund. It it's over 30 days, eBay will not get involved.
To learn about eBay's money back guarantee, see: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebay-money-back-guarantee/. Better still, read the full terms and conditions here: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html
If it's already beyond eBay's 30 day time limit you you can still file a dispute under PayPal's longer, 180 day buyer protection policy, see: https://www.paypal.com/uk/smarthelp/article/what-if-i-didn%27t-receive-my-item-or-it%27s-not-as-adve...

Unlike eBay, eBay will probably require proof that the item is fake. Also unlike eBay, PayPal requires the buyer to pay for the return postage, unless you first register for their (free) "Return shipping on us" service, see: https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/refunded-returns
