Click & Collect depot (Argos) Have seemingly lost the items, who refunds me?

Back in mid January I purchased several gift vouchers from a seller and had them sent to a Click & Collect address (Argos in Sainsbury) near where I was working.

I paid using bank transfer so I can easily claim the money back in the event of non-receipt.

The seller dispatched them and updated me with the tracking details but I did not subsequently receive any collection codes from argos.  On the 6th February, after some conversation with the seller, I decided to contact ebay customer service who opened an "item not recieved" case in the resolution centre on my behalf. I was told by eBay customer service that they would refer the matter to their click and collect team the same day.

The seller updated the tracking details (these show delivery to the Argos in Sainsbury store in question) and since then we have both spent the following two weeks trying to chase Argos directly with no joy, they refuse to put either of us through to the store and have been told that they "can not look into matters concerning eBay items and that I would need to contact eBay to get a refund".

Today, 22nd February, I contacted eBay customer services again only to find that they have not referred the matter to their click and collect team at all. In fact they have done nothing and the representative I was chatting with had not much clue of what was going on.

Importantly I asked if Argos cannot locate the items which is likely since they were delivered to tem nearly five weeks ago, how do I get a refund and was told the following:

"04:45:17 UTC Faith
I will verify this information but the seller should refund you, in cases where in items are not picked up, the store also process a return to the seller if there is a return address."

The seller has confirmed that their return addrees is on the items and nothing has been returned by Argos.

So how do I get a refund?

Argos tell me that I have to claim a refund from eBay

Ebay tell me I have to claim a refund from the seller directly, i.e. ask my bank to reclaim the payment.

How can I do that when the seller has proof that they were delivered to Argos?

eBay say that they cannot "step in" as they have confirmed that the items have been delivered as addressed.

Please help...

I'm afraid that you are seriously mistaken. Bank transfer is an extremely risky way to pay as it leaves you without any buyer protection from eBay, and you can't reclaim a bank transfer from the bank.

To qualify for eBay's money back guarantee you must have paid through eBay's checkout, using PayPal or PayPal Credit, a credit card, debit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay.

You can find the full terms and conditions for eBay's money back guarantee here: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html
