I recently bought an item, in the description the service used was Royal Mail 24, and during check-out I asked the seller to send it ONLY using Royal Mail.
The seller ignored my request and sent it using Hermes.
Hermes courier here is terrible, it either doesn't deliver parcels or when it does the timing it is not at all accurate. Hence why I asked the seller to send only with Royal Mail. I would even pay more if requested.
Now, even if the parcel is going to be delivered, I will have to lose 1 or more working days to chase the courier, making it too costly for me.
Hermes it is not an upgrade to Royal Mail, it takes longer (if the parcel arrives) and you need to be home all day waiting for the courier, and if it doesn't arrive you have to be home all day the following day(s)...
Considering I asked the seller in advance to use only Royal Mail, and the seller didn't contact me and ignored my request, sending it via Hermes, is there a way I can get a full refund while in transit or if the courier returns the parcel back to the seller because I will not be at home?
Thank you
I assume that the seller provided the option of sending it by Royal Mail? If not, you can't just require another delivery service unless you asked about this before bidding.
If you did, and the seller won't send it by RM as agreed it's extremely frustrating, but eBay won't get involved in postage issues, and you can't cancel the order unless the seller agrees to this.
EBay now enable buyers to treat items that arrive late as being not as described, and to return them under eBay's money back guarantee. Otherwise there's nothing you can do except to leave appropriate feedback and ratings. But keep in mind that the seller isn't required to change their advertised postal service unless that option was offered in the listing. Bad feedback because a seller didn't do something that they were not required to do may qualify for removal.
Yes, the seller provided the option of sending it with Royal Mail 24, and I also specified with a message during the check out to send the item ONLY using Royal Mail.
The seller ignored the message and sent it via Hermes, he/she could have sent me a message before sending it, I would have paid more for RM or I would have cancelled the purchase.
Why do I have to lose money out of my pocket by not going to work to wait for the courier, just because the seller didn't follow my instruction or at least contacted me before shipping the item?
If this happens, to me this is a guarantee of a Negative feedback with added poor communication and shipping.
