I won an auction for a mobile phone. I paid straightaway. Two days later the seller said he made a mistake and wants an extra £90. How would I pay the extra £90 if I decided to buy it.

As a buyer, you are only obliged to pay what was on the listing unless you want the item sent by a more expensive method of postage than was on the listing.
By splitting payments, you invalidate the eBay MBG.
It would be best for you and the seller if the seller cancels the listing, revises the listing to the new figure and re-lists it for you to buy again.
The seller will pay their FV fees on the ended listing, but that is their problem, not yours.
