Buyer still trying to return an item after the case is closed

I sold an item 51 days ago. The buyer falsely claims the item was not as described. They opened a case and so did I and as they didn't respond to eBay in the required time the case was closed and my funds released. However, this morning I have received an email from eBay saying they've been in touch again and I need to send the item back to them or they will issue a refund on my behalf. The case still shows as closed in my eBay account so there's no way for me to arrange the return. Also as they're making a false claim I really have no intention in doing so. I can't get in touch with anyone at eBay

what do I need to do?

A buyer should only be able to open one dispute on ebay and once closed that is the end of it.

I am not sure what case you were able to open?.

How can you return the item back to them? It does not make any sense if you are the seller.

To contact ebay at the top of the page Seller Help to the right of the page then scroll down for contact details

It will be call me back of chat with us

You have to be careful as ebay could just refund.

If they paid by paypal then it is possible for them to open a dispute in paypal.

As the Money Back Guarantee is only for 30 days and you say it is 51 days, very little of this makes sense especially "They opened a case and so did I". What ever sort of case did you open as there isn't one and that could be why the problem has now arisen with you being asked to return something that I assume the buyer still has.

Only ebay can sort this out, but it does sound as though they need reminding of their own rules and time lines.

The email you have received may be from a human rather than a robot, as somehow buyer and seller seem to have got mixed up.

If buyer paid by paypal he could still try opening a case with them.
