After a period of three days an international buyer didn’t pay. I sent him a reminder and he replied that he wanted me to cancel because he hadn’t realised the shipping would be so expensive. I politely pointed out that I couldn’t cancel the transaction for that reason and asked him again to pay. He replied and made it clear that he was not going to pay. I therefore opened an unpaid item case (which I had warned him about) and he promptly left me negative feedback saying I was discourteous and mean. I have reported the buyer for this and am awaiting eBay response. In the meantime I have items for auction which could be negatively affected by his comment.
Have I done all the right things? Anything else I could/should do?
Thanks.
You have done the right thing - 100%. Too many sellers just seem not to know and to let it go. After 4 days close the case and you will get a fee credit and the buyer a defect. You can then contact eBay to remove the feedback although - for all I know - it may simply disappear when the case closes.
Close unpaid case after 4 days & negative should disappear, if not phone ebay.
Once unpaid closes as unpaid, neither of you can leave feedback.
