Buyer requesting 1st class postage for item

Hello

Our customer has bought 2 items from me on Ebay - all of our items are listed as being dispatched by 2nd class post. They have sent the following message  - Buyer's note: Hi, please can you send to me 1st class you did not have an option. I have purchased 2 items so you have more profit and can sent 1st class. Thanks,

We have a Multi Buy discount in operation, so they have already got 46p off the cost for buying 2 items.

These are not high value items and it's not about the additional cost of sending the items 1st class. It is just the principle of the thing and the cheeky way that thay have put their request  - it feels that if I do not post 1st class I will be setting myself up for negative feedback. The buyer also sells goods on Ebay and I wonder how they would feel if their buyers behaved in this way to them.

Does Ebay have a policy about how to deal with such requests/demands?

Rant over - have a nice day everyone!!

Just take a deep breath and put your best customer relations hat on!

You can point out that you are not making "more profit" by selling two items, and have already discounted your postage cost by 46p for the double purchase.

Whether you upgrade the postage is up to you. However, in my opinion your buyer has raised something that you should consider, and even be grateful to them for raising it.

What is is with eBay that so many sellers just specify 2nd class postage, with no other option? Haven't they realised that this is the era of Amazon Prime, and as buyers we're all getitng used to next day delivery? It must be killing eBay sellers' sales. Personally, I don't even look at eBay any more unless I can't get an item on Amazon.

Some time ago I did once ask an eBay seller if they would amend their invoice to use 1st class. It took them so long to consider this and find out how to do it that it would have quicker to use 2nd class!

So my rant is over too, but seriously, why not provide the option for 1st class? And even special delivery, as there are times when even small items may be needed urgently.
