Hi guys,
I need some advice.
I have recently sold a PS5 on eBay and it went for over £900, however eBay is currently flooded with the same item for around £650, all from reputable sellers - so naturally alarm bells are ringing. I started the listing at about £300, I wasn't after someone paying a ridiculous price - people just happened to bid up to that crazy amount.
The funny thing is that the guy has over 400 feedback and it's all 100%, he also paid instantly - but I'm reluctant to believe someone would just throw an extra £250-£300 at an item that's available all over eBay. Similar auctions have ended at around £630ish.
I feel like this guy is going to abuse buyer protection in some way - can somebody please tell me how I can protect myself? I stand to lose a lot of money if this guy decides to say I sent an empty box, or the item is broken/send it back. There seems to be tons of protection for buyers, but not sellers. I feel like I'm in limbo and will inevitably lose out.
Thanks
It does happen that someone does not compare and pays over the odds, but underbidder as well would have pushed the price up and it takes some believing that TWO people at least were prepared to pay too much.
It is likely that two or more bidderswere working together to ensure they won, and I am almost certain that there will be a "Not As Described Case" opened and either a broken item or an empty box will be returned. Ebay only want proof of delivery (of something) to expect you to refund or they refund at your expense.
Better to be safe and cancel, using problem with buyers address as reason. Better to risk a Negative than lose a lot of money.
Asearch for Completed PS5 Sales produced this https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=PS+5&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&_sop=16
Are these prices real, or just silly bidding?
All buyers have 100 feedback as sellers can not leave negatives for buyers
You have reason to worry for any item of that price as there are many scams.Make sure it goes by the correct method of postage with the appropriate amount of compensation
I cant see the item what was it
Make sure that the courier or Royal mail do not have it as a prohibited item.
There is not a lot you can do if they open a not as described dispute
That does sound worrying. There is little you can do if a buyer has decided to play the system. eBay tend to side with buyers and the process is almost automatic.
Has he asked for it to be sent elsewhere? If so, or maybe in any case, you can cancel using the reason "Something wrong with buyer's address". That does not need their agreement and refund is issued automatically.
On My eBay go to More Actions, far right of the item on your sold list > Cancel order > Something wrong with buyer's address.
On seller hub go to Orders find the transaction you want to cancel, and from Actions, select cancel order.
Put their ID on your blocked bidder list - here:

Maybe eBay is not the right place to sell such an expensive item.

To be honest, selling anything of value on ebay is risky,so its wise to only sell what you can afford to loose.
On the other hand, most sales go without a hitch.
It sounds like you have already sent the item out,so hopefully you adhered to all ebay/paypal seller protection protocols
Hi
On a different account as i cannot see that you have recently sold anything on the account through Ebay you are posting on?
