Hi I sold an item and it was received by the buyer but they opened a buyers remorse case ( stating they didn't like the item and confirmed via message that it was their fault) which I closed however I think they are still planning on sending the item back regardless for a refund. Have spoken to ebay and they say just to tell the postman to return. To sender but is there anything else I need to do? Should I report the seller as surely this is breaching some eBay policies?
My advice would be to accept this return and refund the buyer.
You are still presenting yourself as a private seller, but have massively increased the volume of your sales. Private sellers are limited to selling their own, unwanted possessions on eBay. Currently, you're listing almost 2,800 items of jewellery. If required, would you be able to convince the responsible authorities that this just a huge personal collection?
If you're conducting a business activity on eBay you are required by law to be registered as a business seller, and to accept returns for any reason. It sounds as though this buyer knows their rights, and accepting this return request may give you a bit of time to review your situation. If they were to complain, you may find yourself facing questions from trading standards and HMRC, as well as eBay. (EBay is now cooperating with HMRC to identify unregistered business sellers.)
It would be a good idea to read eBay's business policy, and consider whether you need to take any action: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/selling-policies/selling-practices-policy/business-seller-polic...
