Buyer has paid but wants me to send a direct email as a proof of purchase?

Just finding this a tad weird. Never been asked to send the buyer a direct email (he posted his email in the question) he has already paid and I'm about to ship. Do I just send him a mail from my normal email stating he has purchased the goods ( pair of trainers) or do I just advice that the eBay invoice I put in the box is proof of purchase?

There seems no point in doing so but I cannot see why he would need to ask.  He gets a message sent to him anyway by eBay.  He has paid too which clearly shows a transaction.  There is no need in my view for him to know your e-mail.

If you do e-mail simply - and without comment - just show a copy of the invoice
