1: Why do offers get blocked once a bid has been registered?

2. What is the approved way of responding to a request for a buy it now price when auction bids have been received? I have used a work around by terminating the auction and readvertising at a fixed price, cumbersome and time consuming but perhaps I'm missing a simple solution?

In theory you can end early and relist for a particular buyer at an agreed price but you get a defect on your account for ending early after bids, and you'd pay a final value fee based on the current bid price.
