Blocked from sending messages!!!

Hi I tried to answer a seller's question which involved giving my PayPal email address ( which when u buy stuff they see) and when I went to send the message it stated it had blocked it due to personal information being contained in the message, which I can sort of understand. But they said the had now BLOCKED me from sending any messages for seven days! **bleep**! That's bang out of order. I'm really annoyed I get saying they can't send a message, but to them stop me from sending any messages ( I'm currently buying lots of stuff) is plain out of order. I pay fees, seller's pay fees, I don't deserve to be treated like a bloody criminal!

It's a bit rough to not warn initially but it is how it is i'm afraid and the rules are quite clear.

You're not alone in being upset, the boards are full of it lately.

you don't need to give the seller your paypal email address, they already have it,

ebay are clamping down on members who exchange contact details,

so any exchange triggers the warning, if you continue to try and send the offending message you get banned from sending any messages for seven days,

why were you sending the seller your email address?

Ebay policy is quite clear and we were all warned a few weeks ago about exchanging or sending contact details befor buying/selling an item

Ebay are taking strong steps to stop off ebay sales

If you have tried to exchange any contact details with another member before buying the item then ebay will restrict or suspend you.

They sent an email to all members on 22^nd Sept Changes to the user agreement

If it is any consolation you are not alone in being restricted but it does pay to read the emails ebay send

No, I've nothing in my eBay app, my eBay messages or my email app. So obviously I didn't get the warning! And again I get stopping the email, but to block me totally with no warning is not on!

You are not being treated like a criminal.

All members who try to exchange contact details via messages are being treated the same, ebay are clampiing down in it.

There was no reason for you to send a seller your Paypal email address, ebay picked it up as it looked like you and the seller were trying to do an off ebay deal.

The 7 day suspension only applies to messaging, you can still buy and sell.

Except we were not trying to do an outside eBay deal! And yes I understand not sending it but to block me when I have never done it before is bang out of order!

you were warned, when you try to send a message containing contact details it flashes a warning that the message has banned content, if you remove the contact details you can send the message,


if you try to send it again without removing the content, you are banned.

Whether or not you were trying to do an off ebay deal you were trying to send contact details in an ebay message which is not allowed.

Why did you need to send your email address?
