Bidding not permitted...why?

I bid for an item, then was outbid but when I tried to raise my bid I got a message saying I would not be permitted to do so because I was the highest bidder on other similar items. This is stupid because I am prepared to buy several of them if I win the bids.

Any ideas of how I can continue in the auction without having a "daddy" deciding for me whether I can do so?

No, these eBay rules and limits are in place to help prevent inexperienced members from getting carried away and ending up with more items than they could afford to pay for.  Prior to the eBay initiative I think that the worst case I saw was over 130 'wins' and no chance of paying.

Going forward, the limit will be increased as you build up a good track record for buying.  In the meantime, there are things that you can do to help yourself.  You should be able to buy from buy-it-now listings but you must make immediate payment.  If you wish to bid on auctions then bid once, bid your maximum and only bid in the closing seconds.  If you win then pay immediately.
