Being ripped off by a seller

Hiya so iput an offer in on a hilti rv10 scanner on eBay the seller messaged me after saying sorry didn't realise you made an offer as it went past it's time and said he's happy to take the offer I made so I asked him a few questions about the item and he messaged me his address when I realised it would be an 8 hour round trip I said will it be possible to post I'm happy to pay postage he said that's fine so I asked how he wanted the money as it was going to be cash on collection and as he said he will post it I said I can do PayPal or bank transfer so I bank transfered him the money and he said he would post I said if not sure on postage let me know the price and I'll transfer you the money over all good I thought untill I realised he's taken my money and he's relisted the item for sale

Oh dear, you have done an 'off ebay' deal. Nothing to do with ebay because you didn't buy through them. Even if you had paid with Paypal you may have had some protection, but doing a bank transfer is quite final and you have zero chance of getting your money back.

Your only hope is to try the citizens avice and see if you can recoup the m oney through legal channels.

 

Nothing you can do except to take legal advice now if you've sent a bank transfer.

 

As you've discovered, that's not a good payment method for you to send to a stranger online.
