Attempt to hack account?

Hi - I've been using eBay without problems since 2004. However, recently, almost every time I log in I receive this message:

We noticed recent sign-in activity on your account using a new device.

Device: Windows (Chrome 88.0)

Approximate location: this has been various towns around the UK

Well, I'm using the same laptop since 2015, MS Edge (currently, version 88.0.705.63) since 2017 and I don't have Chrome on my laptop. The sign in activity is always exactly the moment that I sign in. My account has not been hacked but are these genuine attempts or a glitch?

It isn't just eBay. I have noticed an increase in these sign-in activity alerts from other online sites too.

I had one the other day when I signed in on my usual device, but at 4:00 am. It may be that the criteria for detecting potentially unauthorised sign-ins may has been tightened.

Anyway, if it's clear that it was you who signed in at the time stated, you can safely ignore the alert. It will say so in the message.

Thank you for your rapid response. I just feel uneasy. I regularly use a number of websites but this alert only happens sometimes with eBay. When I am in Derbyshire, why does it sometimes say that I'm signing in from Barnet or Durham? Also, why Chrome when it isn't on my laptop? No doubt if my account was hacked and I hadn't changed my password, they would say that it was my fault.
