Am I being unreasonable?

Hi Ebay Community,

I purchased a PA Setup from someone, and before he had even handed them over to the couriers (despite saying he had already dispached them on the ebay tracking page) I asked him if he could cancel my order as the money was in the form of an e-cheque coming from an account with no funds (he didn't have to do this as he stated 'no returns'. He promptly sent me an email back saying that following day he would contact the couriers (despite the items not being with the courier yet) and try to intercept the parcel. The follwing morning he sent me an email claiming that the couriers had said that was not possible, so I gave them a ring back myself and ot my suprise, they hadn't even got the packages from the seller yet. Despite this though, I managed to get thorugh to both both the depots and tell them to return the items to the sender when they got them. After this call, I emailed the seller and told him what I had done, and also said I would pay for the delivery if by some chance it was in the couriers hands already. I then got an email back saying he had authorised no such return and as soon as they got back to me, he would be sending them straight back and charging me for them. I the told him once again, to not send the item out again and request a payment of £50 for the delivery as I felt that was fair. Not much later I recieved a paypal money request for £50. I promptly paid this only to have a confirmation email sent, telling me it was for redelivery to myself once the parcels were back in his hands.

Is it unreasonable of me to be angry? I think the fact he lied about them being with the couriers and that he very obviously was first OK with me getting a refund/returning the items is inexcusable. I contacted paypal but was told they don't cover this kind of dispute, so am left in a rather sticky situation.
