It seems to me eBay only calculate your defect score for late delivery against items sent by trackable post. They do not bother to count all your other tansactions that arrive on time.........unless the buyer replies to their automated question asking them. So, as in my case, my defect percentage is only based on half my transactions (which in effect doubles the percentage). So to reduce the percentage, I would have to send the uncounted transactions by trackable post and hope they get there on time. It would cost me an extra £600 per year. Doesn't seem eBay are treating us fairly as their customer, but require us to treat our customes fairly. Seems a shame we cannot give eBay a feedback score.
Late deliveries are based on total items sold where feedback is left, not just tracked items and those where buyer marks as late.
It is rather unfair as the tracking while protecting sellers against claims of not received also records late deliveries according to the tracking delivery time.
The best way to counteract this is to extend your dispatch time to say 3 or 4 days but dispatch within 24 hours.
Ebay's estimate of delivery time then allows longer for delivery .
