2nd Chance offer issues.

Just want to ask if any other sellers have had issues since Ebay changed it's policies regarding payments etc?  One I've had which may or my not be connected to their new system is via their 2nd Chance Offer.  I recently listed two items, both failed to meet the reserve I put on them, but I tended them out to two bidders respectively.  But one of the items received final acceptance by two bidders - and that's where it all got complicated.  I've done 2nd chance offers before, and it was a while ago, but I don't recall being able to send one to multiple bidders.  Anyway, I had to try and sort out the mess this created with this listing. At first only one appeared in my sold section, so I accepted that one, booked a shipment using Packlink and printed out the label. Then after I'd sorted that I went back to my sold section, and the other one had popped up. It definitely wasn't there before and I was sorting this out at least a day after the two acceptances had been recieved.   This is where it goes funny.  So I reloaded the page, just to see if there was a cache issue here.  Now both of them appeared as sold but not accepted!  This totally bugged me out and I decided to cancel the previous label with the courier until I'd sorted the issue out.  Unfortunately, because I'd booked the shipment and printed the label for the previous item, Ebay's system had logged it as despatched - which is not particularly true is it?  As I'd only booked a collection and printed off a label.  This also generates an email to the buyer.  So, long story short, I just picked one to send the item to and refunded the other one.  Oh but this wasn't good enough for the unfortunate buyer. Rather than contact me to find out why things had turned out that way, they simply left me a snotty Negative Feedback.  I've never ever received Negative Feedback before, and I'm really annoyed that because of Ebay's ill thought out and carried out system I've received it now.

You should have advised buyer BEFORE you refunded.  As far as the buyer is concerned you just failed to honour a sale.

I can't see that Managed Payments can possibly have any affect on SCOs. Personally I would never send an SCO to more than one bidder at a time, unless I had more than one item, then this sort of muddle could not happen.

From Ebay's information on SCOs -

  • When you have more of the same item to sell, only make offers to as many buyers as you have items

Not a failing in the system, you had not read the procedures Only one item so only one SCO at a time.
