24 hours next day delivery

I'm a little bit irked.

I messaged a seller on Friday morning asking if he could get an order to me by Monday (31st Oct) in time for a friends birthday . He said if I chose ''courier 24' then it'd get to me in time. So I paid £ 6. 99 for delivery.
He told me it'd been posted right away.

Nothing came Saturday, which was fine, I know they don't include weekends. But it still hadn't arrived on Monday. I presumed it would be a courier that was delivering it as it said ''other courier'. So I waited in all day. But still nothing.

By Tuesday I was really cross, my friends birthday came and went and I looked like a rubbish friend who'd forgotten to get a present and was just making excuses.

I messaged the seller asking what courier he'd used and he didn't respond until after the postman came and delivered it. So he used Royal Mail.
He is now accusing me of not being in when they tried to deliver it. But my postman is also my husband so we KNOW the seller is lying.
But he also shot himself in the foot by telling me he posted it on 29th ((Saturday ). I'm just so cross that my friend didn't get their present in time and that I paid so much money for something that didn't get here any quicker than a 1st class stamp. Can I ask to have postage returned?
