20% vat on purchases from EU being charged to NI customers

Hi, does anyone know how I could go about pointing out to the powers that be that anyone with a Northern Ireland postcode doesn't have to pay tax on items bought from Ireland, possibly the whole EU but definitely from Ireland. I have no idea. Many thanks.

You are right that there is no change in charges due to Brexit

Ebay annoucement

The UK and EU have now reached a Partnership Agreement which will govern trading rules post 1 January 2021. Thankfully, this is a “zero tarif”’ deal, so no new tariffs will be generally applied for UK goods. However, please note that goods will still have to comply with Rules of Origin to benefit from zero tariff arrangements. For more detail on these rules, please visit the UK Government’s Brexit checker.

We are trying to see what or why this is happening but it is Vat. and seems that it is correct

Ebay policy

Starting 1 January 2021, eBay is required to collect VAT on certain orders delivered to UK addresses:

  • Orders up to £135 sent from outside the UK
  • Orders where the item is located in the UK, but the seller is not a UK seller

You'll see the VAT included in your order total at checkout, and you can view and download a tax invoice from the Order details page in your purchase History

Have a read of this, as far as I am concerned it might just as well be in Greek -
