Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

i think it is a good idea for children's charities not just nspcc etc. but what about foster carers who do some good work. i don't mean give the prizes to them but to the children they foster who deserve something to look forward to after some have no choice but to be taken into foster care.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I think in light of what has happened in South Asia, they should be donated to a charity/organisation to do with that. Or sold on here and then the money donated to DEC.

Either that or you can give them to me for my gap year!?! 😛

I'd love to see any help possible (from ebay or other posters!) go to this charity - they help homeless kids have a chance at getting their lives back together before they're ruined. It's a group I feel very strongly for (and do a bit of occasional fund raising for myself) Well worth a look - even if you're not donating people, please take a look.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I would also like to suggest the funds go to the tsunami relief efforts. I know that there are thousands of people old and young, sick and dying and everyone needs help somewhere in the world.

But this would be my wish, to help feed and clothe and re home people after they have lost family, friends, homes, businesses and every thing in the world they own.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I suggest that the money from auctioned prizes goes to the Tsunami Appeal. Think of all the people who have had the worst Christmas and New Year. All money should go towards their aid including food and manual labour to rebuild homes for these people.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

My bid is for the Tsunami relief.
This may sound selfish, but how about keeping it to something for people on this board, raffle, Treasure Hunt you pay to enter etc.
I just feel we have become a community and I would like someone who has been bothering to play everyday and share their ideas on here to win something. I guess a silent auction could work- no-one seeing what anyone else has bid, highest bid wins. I would also be very happy to pay for a chance at a mug!

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I'd like to suggest the WARWICKSHIRE AND NORTHAMPTONSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE. Or any of the diana princess of wales air ambulances as they are entirely funded by charitable donations and fundraising events.

I THINK ALL UNCLAIMED PRIZES SHOULD BE AUCTIONED AND THE MONEY SHOULD GO TO THE DISASTER FUND FOR THE TSUNAMI.

DEC relief for tsunami victims
As a victim of the tsunami on boxing day ...i was able to witness first hand the horror.I came back to the uk on Tuesday ...back to my centrally heated bungalow ...a fridge full of food and a tap full of clean drinking water.
I lost only material things ...the rest of the victims have lost EVERYTHING not to mention loved ones.
My best friend ..who i went on holiday with ..is still in Sri Lanka in hospital unable to fly home .The hospitals are stretched to the limit shes in a room -usually for one patient -with 4 others.
All medicines are in short supply .
Im not registered with ebay -this is a friends pc but im begging please nominate :DEC relief for tsunami victims
Please...help them..

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

Do we know how many unclaimed prizes there are so far - and is there a deadline for them to claim them? If there is a decent amount of prizes then they could be all put up on Ebay for the Tsunami appeal. If this is reported to the papers then there will be a lot of interest in the auctions and they should fetch far more than they would normally.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

The answer is simple. The Tsunami disaster fund, needs our money most.
Whilst the tens of thousands of people who lost their lives to this tragedy are beyond our help, please don't forget that thousands more survivors need our help in the coming months even years.
Even though the auctioned prizes will not scratch the suface of what is needed in those countries, I do not believe Ebay or anyone can argue that this is a cause who needs our help most.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I agree that perhaps the items should be posted back on the boards and sold under a special charity auction. I also agree that the monies should be split between charities, there are so many of them out there and so many people (and animals) need help too. However there are also so many smaller local charities that dont get the type of help that some of the more major and more known places do. So perhaps we nominate a local charity each and even if ebay just gave fifty pounds to each then it would help boost a lot of small local charities funds. I myself help to raise funds for an animal rescue centre in Gores End, nr Ramsgate, Kent. It is run by one lady and her daughter. They work tirelessly to feed and look after the animals with small donations and are at present raising money to build a hospital for the injured animals that they receive. They do eater egg hunts, halloween parties, chrostmas wonderland etc etc. It is only a small place but they put so much time and effort into it I think they deserve some extra help too. Then there are numerous small cat and dog rescues, childrens charities and help for the less fortunate. Even a small donation is worth its weight in gold to these people running these organisations.
My charity would be - Marsh Farm Animal and Pet Rescue Centre, Gore End, Monkton, nr Ramsgate, Kent.
If any one would like to visit they are open every weekend and have tea rooms, fairy tale garden walk, fishing, farmyard and pets corner as well as many animals wanting new homes.;-)
