Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

Hi this is the charity that I put forward it is CHERUBS UK and it is a recently registered charity that gives support to families of children diagnosed with a CONGENITAL DIAPHRAGMATIC HERNIA. This is a condition that affects about 1in 2500 babies. What happens is that the Diaphragm that separates the chest cavity from the abdomen cavity does not grow properly and allows the contents of the abdomen to invade the chest cavity stopping the lungs from growing properly and in some cases moves the heart around. This is a small charity and is in need of funds to get the message out that YOU ARE NOT ALONE in going through the trauma of having a child with CDH everything is done by people who have been there already.
PLEASE PROPOSE CHERUBS UK AS THE HELP IS NEEDED.more info can be found at www.uk-cherubs.org.uk

Due to recent events I think it's worthy to donate to the international disaster fund to aid the millions who are left without food or water and face threats of disease from the tidal waves in Asia.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

hi
i think it is a great idea but i agree with some people who think that big organisation have a lot of money donated and we should help local charities. I run a social club for people with a learning disability in skegness and we are in desperate need of a new mini bus as we have 35 members and our bus only seats 10. we meet twice a week and the four or five hours the members come to the club gives parents and carers respite. the club enables the members to try new activities and the club is recognised in the community. Any prizes would enable me to auction of and all the proceeds can go to the mini bus appeal we need £17000

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I think a childrens' charity based in the UK.

And definitely not a big organisation that can afford to run it's own media campaign.

Like the idea of a raffle as I think we could raise more money that way. I think the tickets should be £1 not £3 as previously suggested. I would be inclined to buy 3 for £3 but not 1 for £3 if that makes sense! I think more people would buy them if they were cheaper.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I think after what is happening abroad at this time, auction off the prizes and donate the money to those poor kids abroad and adults who lives have just been wiped out.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I like many others on the board think that the items should be raffled for Charity. The money going to a Charity/Hospital/organisation of the winners' choosing. There are so many well deserving Charities/Hospitals/organisations that it is very hard to decided which one/s should receive a donation.
Many people on the board have had dealings with one or two of them (myself included)and I personally feel it would be nice to give a little to help them after all the help they have given (and will continue to give) to my family over the years.:^O

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

Normally I would suggest that the poor and needy in this country should benefit, they are usually the forgotten people.

But this time I feel that the victims of the latest earthquake disaster need as much help as can be found. They had no warning of what was to come and many of them have lost everything.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

I think you should auction the prizes and send it to the Tsunami appeal. You are eBay and it's the Bays that were hit while all this was going on.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

why not donate prizes to:-

R.D.A riding for the disabled assoication [shelley centre, suffolk]

i am a disabled lady and use this centre all the time, and what a good job they all do,
they never complain!
just doing a job that they all love, seeing the pleasure on the faces of those who are less able is very rewarding,
a charity number will be available!

they are a purpose built small stable solely for R.D.A

Thankyou SAM.

Re: Unclaimed Prizes - Charity Suggestions

how about helping the British families of those who have lost loved ones in the tsunami disaster, rather than donating to the whole cause.......not because i feel that others are less worth but because as noted before we wouldn't have much impact over there.

The organisation I work for (Paws and More Animal Rescue London) - we're a non profit organisation, and our funds only go towards vet care, food & bedding.

We're always setting up raffles etc to raise money.....
