Some weeks ago I found three wrinkled up old potatoes at the back of my cupboard that had fallen out of the veggie rack. The all had sprouts growing out of them (no, not brussels). I was going to put them in the compost bin, but instead, I cut them in half and planted the 6 peices in a spare bit of garden.
OH dug them up yesterday and there was 20lb 3oz of beautiful maris pipers. HOW GOOD IS THAT !!!.

thats brilliant. If you had composted them they may well have grown in your flower border next year, I never even put peelings into the compost bin because in past years I have had spuds come up everywhere!

Well done you. We are leaving ours in a little while longer yet. I think that they're doing well at the moment.

We pick a few and eat them then pick a few more. We had enough to last half way through the winter last year. Most of ours are ones I've bought and they've started to sprout before I've used them all. It's a surprise as to what colour and variety will come from each plant!
