delivery problem

Has anyone had this happen before? an item I ordered has not arrived, however the courier company says they delivered last saturday and has a "signature" to prove it. The so called signature is just my surname written in to the box, not something I ever do, I sign properly. I was home all day on saturday so know that it wasn't delivered. I can't blame the seller as she has done everything right and is being very helpful, but it looks like these delivery companies with their tracking system are no safeguard, anything written in the signature box proves that you have received it.

Luckily it was a low value item, although something that I need urgently this week, but I am a bit shocked that this can happen, it appears that I am the one not being believed.

Trouble is, Cookie, so could the delivery driver have signed anything and not delivered the parcel at all. Looking like I am going to be the loser in this, as I said fortunately it is just a cheapie so not the end of the world. I feel that I am being looked on as the dishonest one in this case, but I know I'm not, so will just have to move on. If someone has stolen it I bet they were disappointed when they opened the parcel!!!!

I was once given a RD item to sign for by the postie.

Was just about to when I noticed the item was not for me . It was for someone in a neighbouring village 3 miles away . The only similarity was that my house and their house had the word " THE " in front of the house name .

In this case it was obviously a postie sorting error ...but had I not noticed ( or been honest ) I could have signed and no one would have been any of the wiser.

Errors are made ...everyone is human.....unfortunately for you as tracking shows as delivered you would not win a case.

i would claim a refund and let the seeler fight it out with the courier..it is the sellers job to make sure it is delivered to you.

That won't work though Cookie. The seller has 'proof' of delivery, ie the name in the signature box

It could still be worthwhile either you or the seller talking to the carrier. Many such companies, and others too, have satellite trackers on their vehicles tracking and recording all movements every second of every day. The location of the vehicle can be checked with the time on the electronic signature pad. If they don't tally the driver has some explaining to do.

Great news, it had been left at an industrial unit further along the road, they told delivery driver it wasn't for them, but he shrugged, dumped it down and left! Also nobody signed for it so must have been the driver who did that. Must add that the seller has been fantastic. So much for low cost couriers!!

It's the drivers to blame not the company though. I use Hermes a lot & have never had a problem. They know where to leave things if I am out. I guess it's pot luck. Glad you got it in the end.:)

I have found Hermes to be a pain in the proverbial.  I was waiting for a parcel, it never arrived.  Hermes said they had left it in my porch - I don't even have a porch.

Seller went back to Hermes to dispute the delivery, apparently Hermes drive definitely remembered leaving it in my porch.  I photographed the front of my house and emailed it to the seller as it clearly showed I had no porch.  Seller refunded me but had a real fight on their hands claiming off Hermes.

Glad your parcel has turned up 🙂

Did you see this in the news!!

An online shopper has been left dumbfounded after a parcel he ordered was left wedged in his gutter - 20ft above his front door - by a bungling delivery company.

A driver from courier firm myHermes left a note for Benjamin Ward, 24, of Hove, East Sussex that read: 'Today I called to deliver your parcel. Stuck on the roof - sorry'.

The confused customer, who has no idea how it got there, alerted the company on Twitter and his pictures chronicling the incident have gone viral.

Well that won't help their business! I hope they sacked the delivery man. I still have to say I have had no problems with them myself though.

i had a knock from a myhermes driver the other day

parcel for my neighbour

it wasnt the normal guy who has been doing the round 4/5 yrs

so i asked him if was on holiday

he said 'no , hes been sacked'

apparently he hadnt been getting  signatures properly or leaving slips

the stand-in then moaned about the way the numbers run in the street, he was from the next town and wasnt happpy.

he didnt give next doors time to answer their bell or the rap to their door before he came to my door
