my granny only really made it for christmas and new year
and it was used to mop up the alcohol after all the drinking NYE
thats when i first had it fried , it was a treat if we had it any other time of year 🙂

I usually make half the recipe, then it only needs 2 hours boiling so it's quicker. I slice it and freeze it until we need it as OH isn't really supposed to eat things like this and would eat the whole lot if I left it around so freezer is the safest place! Look forward to hearing how you get on with it.

I didn't realise it was a Scottish tradition not having heard of it before.
It looks a bit like a Christmas pudding.
I was interested to read about it's history and to take a look at how it's made in their site.
