apple picking

just took the last of the cooking apples off the tree, they are about 4wks early, but they are so massive!!! I've never seen apples so big before! we've lost a lot of them going bad on the tree, must try to sort that out.

has anyone else noticed that apples seem so much bigger this year?

We have a tree that doesn't normally do very well it usually has 2 or 3 apples that fall off before they are ripe. Well this year it is covered in them must start picking them I don't want them to go bad.

We just picked the last of the potatoes today and the two remaining apples.  The sweetcorn that hasn't been picked isn't getting any bigger and it's not ripening.  The only things left now are squashes which we don't eat any way.

Things  have done very well this year.

I don't know if I'll plant anything next year.  I might.

My dear CG, you will plant next year as usual and so will I. I could get in the car and come and help you **listens for screams**

I might.  He's built raised beds.  I might do potatoes in polysyrene boxes.  I don't usually garden.  I know how, it's just weeding and watering that I don't like.  Woman LOL

He's turned the corner on his cold.  He slept ok last night.  Woman LOL

I can't find just what I want in a BMW Carol.  I think I'll have one of these with leather seats.

My apple trees were fruitless this year - we got a cold snap at the wrong time

I picked my pumpkins at the weekend and they are hardening off.  I still have Uchiki Kuri squashes to pick (Japanese pumpkins) but they are smaller and need to turn orange before I cut them.  Had loads of tomatoes this year....

I inherited some apples from next door who had been out for a walk and picked loads up off the

ground in a public park where there are hundreds, all on the ground going bad.  I mixed them with

some blackberries I'd foraged for in the hedges and made crumbles.  One was delicious and the

other's in the freezer.

I have loads and loads of teeny little yellow tomatoes on a tomato tree (I say tree as it's more like

a tree than a plant) in the garden.  It grew all by itself and, as I say, is covered in these little

tomatoes.  They've yet to ripen but they smell lovely.  Why do shop tomatoes never smell like

ones you grow in the garden?

Are you sure they're not potato fruits fishie?  If they are you shouldn't eat them.

both our trees are baking apples, I can't identify the big tree as the apples are from a very old tree, they are not bramleys though.

we are training the other one to grow along the fence as it was planted in completely the wrong place and attacks you as you go up to the shed!!!

fruits are so big this year, like grapefruits...crumbles for OH for ages yet I think!!

My apple tree was cox's orange pippin it was here when we moved 10 years ago. It virtually died so I chopped it right back down to the ground and after a couple of years it regrew so I think it might have been the tree that the pippin was grafted on to they dont look like cox's.

Sorry I cannot add to the apple picking ladies and we moved our rasps too this year so none of them, loads and loads of tiny wild strawberries though.  Have to be sharp to get there before the birds, I cannot believe how far they have spread.

Oooooh CG a Mercedes - now I (we) have never had a Merc, I don't think I've even test driven one - she looks gorgeous.  OH wants me to get an Audi (like him), but they don't do anything for me.  Saw a nice Alfa Romeo though!  Decisions, decisions, lol.

Got to go to bed, hospital today, consultant, the works, so very tired, so I will say Nnight all, sleep well xx.
