Work hours

I have asked this question on another place on here but i will ask here also. Does anyone know if i work on a set fifteen hour contract part time and my company want to cut my hours, do they have to give me notice of this?. i am really cross as i have had problems work wise again this week and am despairing of some companies. I have had a run of bad luck at work lately.

I just thought someone may have experienced this so may be able to help?. Thanks.Woman Mad

Unless the contract states otherwise, I would have expected notice to be given of a change in hours. I would also expect the employer to be discussing the situation and trying to reach a mutually acceptable agreement before imposing any changes.

see your union about it. It should state in your contract how many hours you work.

I hope they don't do it.

We have just been through similar type of thing,  It must be mutually agreed and notice given, if you don't agree I don't think they can force you to do anything other than your contracted hours.

However if I were you I would either speak to a union rep if you are in a union or the citizens advice bureau, but above keep calm and don't be bullied into it, you can bet they know your rights even if you don't.

It would be well worth giving ACAS a phone call, they will be able to advise you. They do tend to be very busy, so be prepared to hang on. There may well be appropriate advice of the ACAS web site.
