Wild bird advice anyone please?

On two occasions this week there has been a young rook hiding underneath my car when Im heading home from work. First time, I managed to catch him & put him in the safest place I thought was best for him. Next morning, hes back again, hiding under my car. Any advice on how to do best thing for him? HELP!!!!!!!!

just keep repeating the process, as his parents must be nearby. If he still does it, try ringing the RSPB maybe they can offer you some better advice. Aawww bet he's cute though!:-)

The RSPB will tell you to leave it alone...don't touch it don't do this don't do that......

I know because I had the displeasure of ringing them once....X-(

sounds like the RSPCA Mr X, they told us to leave baby hedgehogs alone, but we rescued them and took them to a rescue, who said they would have died if we'd have left them. The fact we saw the mother wander off meant she had abandoned them.

CG, yup I appreciate that, nature is rotten, but he's only a baby.....we were only talking about that the other day, the way crows stalk lambs etc, it's horrible:-(

Hi, sorry for a late reply. I can get in touch with some bird rescues if you like. I agree don't call the RSPCA for hedgehogs, please!!! They haven't a clue. You could try calling Vale wild life rescue and they can either advise you what to do, or put you in touch with a rescue centre near you.

Thank you Pat. In my experience, rspca are useless in a lot of cases! If you know of any wildlife rescues in or around lancs please let me know. We used to have "3 owls bird sanctuary" in Rochdale but sadly it had to close down.  I know that rooks can be nasty, but as Captainbovine said, he"s just a baby. & I can"t just leave him to fend for himself. Just cant.

You could always put him some tinned dog or cat food down. And a shallow dish of water.Then he won`t starve

Good luck and hope you can get him some help. I know some of the ladies I make nests for take in Rooks. I love them personally. Especially love Jack Daws and Magpies, which are also corvids.

oooh Pat you wouldn't love jackdaws at 4am in the morning when the baby is yelling his fool head off for some breakfastX-(:^O they are very clever birds though.

Caps I love the sound they make. 🙂 I wouldn't mind a young cockerel who is just learning to crow. 🙂 love the sounds that birds of all sorts make.

Ring RSPB they will take care of him in the way they know how. Awwww bless the birds.:-)
