I was told last week that a Poppy should have the green leaf pointing towards 11 o'clock; since then I've taken note of how people wear theirs and hardly any wear it correctly, even some of the newscasters have got it wrong. Can anyone confirm, please? I now wear mine the "correct" way.

People do all seem to wear it on the left lapel with the leaf pointing to 11 o'clock (towards the wearers left ear) but as petal said, a woman from The Royal British Legion said yesterday there is NO 'correct' way to wear it, except with pride and remembrance!

Obviously my school wasn't as posh as yours. We learnt how to make a bed (with hospital corners) how to clean shoes and how to wash our brush and comb. Looks like we were heading for lives as ladies maids!!!

And, 50 years later I STILL have the openings in the pillow slips AWAY from the door to the room!

I have been buying the metal poppies that fix to your jacket as I always used to lose the paper ones, I have 6 now and I have them in a circle on my work jacket, I also have a wrist band.

I find they twist around anyway, and the green leaf tends to come loose and droop no matter where it starts off.
This year I've bought a little metal one. The leaf is at 11 o'clock on that (based on having the date the right way up).

My Father always said that the leaf should be at 11 o'clock... to signify the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month...
I have no idea if this is right but it's nice to think that it's true....

Bit off topic but if there are any fans of The Archers Omnibus, don't forget it will start at 9.30 this Sunday!
I think it's lovely that there could be 'right' ways of wearing a poppy. Shows more thought.
