Is it good or bad?
Sorry to be so thick but I've given one to Blackadder somehow and I hope I
haven't offended her! I've probably now offended her by saying I've done it
by mistake - ooops!

I think that kudos is a thumbs up that you give for a thread post that you consider to be good
From a google search Kudos (from the Ancient Greek: κῦδος) is acclaim or praise for exceptional achievement
So I don`t think you will have offended anyone

its like the facebook LIKE button
you can remove it
in settings you can disable the kudos function if you prefer not to see it

Thanks people.
Hi Ed, don't worry, it is no reflection on you that I did it by mistake! I', just
relieved I didn't do anything insulting.
I could have googled it to save troubling people, but I didn't think of that!

If you do give one by mistake, the option to remove is under the Options dropdown list on the right of the actual post you gave a Kudos point to. "Revoke my Kudos".
You can also tick the Accept as Solution green tab on any post in a thread you start - this has the happy effect of turning that person's whole post a lurid shade of green.
You can do it to your own post which some people do when they feel their question has been answered - they post a thank-you and mark it as Accepted Solution.
You see a little green tick next to posts that have had an Accepted Solution - some people mark just about every answer in their thread as "Accepted" which may be indicative of how grateful they are, or just that they like turning everyone green.
You can also unaccept the solution - same Options menu if you find the person has given the wrong info. "Not the Solution"
You can give Kudos points or accept a solution at any time, to anyone - there is no time limit on how old the post is.

Hi Sam, been to work this morning absolutely shattered when I got back so had a little sleep, mind it is so dark here you would think it is night.
I like Kudos and I like giving them, I don't mind how I get them either, he he he.

I never think they're given insincerely, but I'm not fussed to not get one and I'd even say it's probably far better and certainly nicer to receive the acknowledgement in a post as you have done because then it is obvious why the person is thanking, rather than at times, wondering why someone found something so fantastic about (and this does happen) an age old post that may not even be relevant any more to still give it a kudos.

My reply was a little tongue in cheek aernethril, I still like the old fashioned way of saying thank you, or bright idea.
